There is so much to say and ponder about Jesus – His conduct, all His miracles, teachings, claims, prophecies and above all His is death and resurrection. Twenty centuries have come and gone. Many kings, rulers, leaders, philosophers walked on the sphere on this planet but none could bring a profound impact on mankind as the life of Jesus did. He has set a perfect example of humility, love and forgiveness for the human race.
Today, let us one more time go through the life of Jesus and find out what’s so special about Jesus. The very first thing one should know about Jesus is – Jesus Himself being God, left all the glory of heaven, manifested in flesh (Phil 2:6-8), came on this earth the only one, ever born of a virgin (Mat 1:23), to proclaim freedom for all people (Luke 4:18), becoming propitiation for not only our sins but for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2), to bring you and me in relationship with the Father in heaven through Him (John 14:6).
Jesus lived a holy life. There was no sin in Him. He did everything that was pleasing in the sight of His father. He dared to ask “Which of you can point to anything wrong that I have done”. (John 8:29). His teachings were also completely remarkable. The amazing thing in His teaching was “the parables” from nowhere; He used to explain and make His disciples understand. One of His beautiful teachings was about the “Kingdom of God” that had arrived with Him. Besides he taught to love and forgive one another. He claimed to bring God into our midst and his life lent credibility to His claim.
During his ministry Jesus performed many miracles. The Bible records 35 miracles of Jesus, some of them are – Feeding 5,000 with five loaves and two fish (John 6:1-14), this is the only miracle which is mentioned in other three gospels also. As Jesus fed the five thousand so he can feed our hungry souls. Healing a man born blind (John 9:1-41). As Jesus opened blind eyes so he can make all of us see the truth about life. Raising the widow’s son (Luke 7:11-16). As Jesus raised the dead so he can show us that he can bring new life to the spiritually dead.
The death of Jesus was also extra-ordinary. The only death celebrated on earth is the death of Jesus. The Son of Man (Jesus) came to give his life a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). God himself had come to the disciples and for you and me to save us through His death on the Cross. Jesus not only finished everything on the Cross but opened a new chapter of hope and life for us by demonstrating His resurrection from the dead on the third day.
Why Jesus is special for me because – He is the only one on whom I can rely and lean upon in the times of my troubles and trials. He is the one who can fulfill all the plans and promises He has got for me in my life. Above all He is the only one who can give me an eternal life.
