WHO IS GOD ?

The God mentioned in Bible – is the creator of the whole creation. He is alone holy, the only one resurrected from death and who is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. He loved us before our existence and revealed His nature, His thoughts, and His heart to us.

In the book of Exodus we can see Moses asking “Who are you – God ?” God responded with these words: “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy”. (Exodus 33:19). God promised to reveal Himself. But as no man can see God and live. So God told him to stand on the rock and said, ““while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will take away my hand, you shall see my back, but my face shall not be seen” (Exodus 33:22-23). And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed His name. God is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, Moses did well in asking God who He is rather than telling God who he wanted Him to be. He is the self-existent, changeless God through whom all things exist, and He is long suffering, full of goodness and truth.

God is Creative. Everything we make is put together with existing materials or built on previous thoughts. But God has the capacity of speaking things into existence, not just galaxies and life-forms but solutions to today's problems. God is creative, for us. His power is something he wants us to be aware of and to rely on. “Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure”. (Psalms. 147:5).

God is Honest. What He says, we can trust. What He promises, can be counted on. When God promises us forgiveness, eternal life, a relationship with Him... we can believe. He delights in fulfilling His promises in our life. More sure than our feelings, thoughts, and limited perception, God is totally accurate and honest in what He says. The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple. (Psalms. 119:130).

God is Capable. How would you like to be always 100% right, about everything? God is. His wisdom is unlimited. He understands all the elements of a situation, including the history and future events related to it. We do not have to update Him, counsel Him or persuade Him to do the right thing. He will, because he is capable and his motives are pure. If we trust Him, He will never undercut nor deceive us. He can be fully trusted to do what is right, in all circumstances, at all times. “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” (Romans 10:11).

God is Welcoming. He invites us to talk to Him and bring to Him what concerns us. We don't have to get our act together first. Neither do we need to be polite, theologically correct or holy. It is his nature to be loving and accepting when we go to him. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28).

God is Forgiving. We sin. We tend to do things our way instead of God's way. And God sees it and knows it. God does not merely overlook such sin, but is prepared to judge and condemn people for their sin. However, God is forgiving and will forgive us from the moment we begin a relationship with him. Jesus, the Son of God, paid for our sin with his death on a cross. He rose from the dead and offers us this forgiveness. "We are made right in God's sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done. We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed his blood, sacrificing his life for us. (Romans 3:22).
